Two-part project: migration of the site’s image search engine and internationalization into English.
This project was carried out in two stages:
- Migration of the internal image search engine that was built with the NextGen Gallery extension.
- Internationalization of the English version of the site.
Data migration and search engine redesign
Migration of the old NextGen gallery-based search engine to a version using the native WordPress media library, a custom taxonomy allowing each image to be tagged and classified manually. Development of a custom PHP script to collect, classify and migrate data from the NextGen gallery extension to the media library. Over 4,000 labels and 5,000 images to be migrated to date.
Redesign of the search engine, the new version is built with Search & Filters Pro and Relevanssi. Integration and modification of existing templates to maintain the design of page templates with the new search system.
Internationalization of the site and research
Internationalization of the site into English, translation of labels and associated images to enable differentiated searches in different languages with keywords in the chosen language. Language-specific adaptation of the “Picto-challenge” mini-game.
